Tapio Kauranen: Entrepreneur since 2012

I started my first company in 2012 with the idea of offering Google Ads services to businesses.

Early in my entrepreneurial journey I realized it made sense to focus my learning on Google and WordPress.

While coding WordPress sites I dove deep into the world of SEO.

I built a few sites for my own use to practise SEO. Most of those sites are still up.

Working remotely now and always

In 2020 I got fed up with the winter and decided to escape the climate by heading south.

The coronavirus pandemic made a huge number of people realize that work can be done remotely from home. And if it can be done from home, it can also be done from abroad.

As soon as I had the chance, I started travelling around Europe.

A couple of years of digital nomad life was enough, though, and I decided to settle permanently in Portugal.

Today (2026) I have been living in Porto for almost four years.

In 2020, after eight years as a freelancer, I joined forces with Juho Liljeroos and we founded the growth agency Kansleri

Kansleri delivers high-quality digital marketing at a fixed price. There are three of us: me, Olha Kushnir and Juho Liljeroos.

I personally focus solely on Google and WordPress work.

I accidentally built Finland’s most popular gym site

Saliohjelma.com ranks #1 on Google for almost every fitness-related search, including "Saliohjelma" and "workout program"

The site attracts about 250,000 sessions a year from roughly 80,000 Finns. It was originally built as an SEO practice project.

I wanted to tackle a topic with fierce competition. In search results I’m competing against global giants like Adidas as well as small local brands such as individual gyms.
