I started my freelance career in 2012 doing nothing but Google Ads for businesses.
Later I added SEO and WordPress websites to the services, but Google Ads is what started it all.
Over the years Google’s tools and the ways ads are shown have changed, but the old tricks still work.

Google advertising price
The set-up costs €380, then the management €285/month. The ad budget is paid straight to Google.
Typically the cost of Google advertising includes the following steps
- Kickoff. Set up all necessary conversion points and build the ad campaigns. €380 once, about 4 hours.
- Optimization. Tactical adjustments are made twice a month based on previous data. €190/month, twice a month, 2 hours in all.
- Check-in meeting. We hold a mid-month meeting to review how the marketing is performing and decide what to do differently going forward. €95/month, once a month, 1 hour.
After the set-up, the management is €285/month. The prices are for the work: the ad budget is paid to Google separately.

Advertise on search engines
Search ads are by far the most effective way to advertise. Anywhere.
Your ad only appears when a customer is ready to buy. With SEO you often have to wait months to see results. Search ads can get your site into search results within minutes.
Anyone can set up a Google Ads campaign these days. The harder part is making advertising profitable and effective.
To me, effective search advertising looks like this:
- Ad performance is measured primarily by conversions. Not clicks or impressions.
- Over 10% click-through rate. The CTR shows whether the ad’s message reached the right audience.
- A monthly meeting with the client. Effective advertising is only possible in collaboration with you.
Display (banner) advertising

Google Display advertising means banner ads shown across Google’s Display Network.
CPM (cost per 1,000 impressions) is typically under €0.10. In other words, you can easily get a million impressions for less than a hundred euros (€100).
When done right, Display advertising is a very effective way to promote your brand. The image here shows:
- The campaign got 4.7 million impressions for €160
- The ad was seen by the same person an average of 15,000 times. Think the brand stuck?
