Google SEO Pricing in Finland

Google SEO can be free or it can cost thousands. Here’s how the price is determined:

SEO can be done in three different ways:

  1. As an ongoing service. The site is tweaked weekly and new content is created. Most often as part of a larger digital marketing package.
  2. As a project. The site’s problem areas are checked and fixed for one project price.
  3. As a bonus. Most often website builders slap on SEO as a bonus when building the site.

In this article, I open up all three pricing techniques and my own recommendations on what you should do… and what to avoid.

Google SEO as an ongoing service

Ongoing SEO starting from 500€/month

Ongoing SEO includes these measures

  • Monitoring the site’s visibility
  • Reacting to changes in visibility (sometimes rankings drop)
  • Creating new content

Personally, I’m not a fan of ongoing SEO. In theory the service sounds excellent, but in reality the client often ends up paying a monthly fee without getting anything in return.

The SEO specialist doesn’t have enough motivation to do things properly, because the money comes in anyway.

Google SEO project pricing

SEO projects starting from 500€

SEO project pricing is my personal pricing method.

It includes

  • Checking how the site currently appears
  • What potential issues the site may have
  • Fixing the issues
  • Adding content for specific searches
  • Monitoring visibility for 3 months

The project has clear boundaries and a price. The client knows the end date and the SEO specialist has a strong motivation to do the work properly in order to sell a new project right after the old one.

Google SEO included for free

SEO done in connection with website development costs 0€

Every website builder promises SEO for free.

The problem with this is that most website builders are not SEO professionals.

The common understanding is that SEO means the site works on every device and that some SEO plugin has been installed.

  • The site works on every device
  • Redirects have been implemented if it is a site redesign

WARNING

A cautionary example of what can happen during a website redesign

I have followed a certain website for years because they dominated Google search results for the keywords where I also wanted to appear.

In May 2025 they decided to redesign their website and their visibility plummeted to almost zero.

For me it was a pleasant surprise, because search visibility is a zero-sum game. When they fell, I rose.

It took them over 6 months to get the site back into Google search results, but they still never regained the visibility they had before.

I often use this as a cautionary example of what can happen if you forget search engine optimization during a website redesign.

Make sure that the company redesigning your site does at least the following

  • Understands which pages are currently ranking in Google before the redesign
  • Ensures that these pages are not removed during the redesign
  • If the URL structure changes during the website redesign, users must be redirected from the old addresses to the new ones. Otherwise, the user will be taken to a “page not found” page.

Hourly rate for search engine optimization

The hourly rate for an SEO professional in Finland is around 50-200€

Some search engine optimizers bill their work by the hour. The hourly rate varies wildly depending on the practitioner’s experience.

Hourly pricing works best for small targeted tasks:

  • Website audit – checking the current state of the site
  • Consulting – explaining what should be done on the site
  • Fixing a single specific issue

Hourly pricing carries the same risk as with renovation companies. You never know in advance how many hours the work will ultimately take.

Always agree on a cap for the hours or request a fixed price for the entire job.

What affects the price of search engine optimization?

The price doesn’t come out of a hat. These four things determine how much you pay:
  • Competition. “Law firm Helsinki” is a completely different battle than “flower shop Kuusamo”. The tougher the competition, the more work is needed.
  • Site size. A five-page company website can be optimized quickly. An online store with thousands of products is a completely different project.
  • Starting point. If the site is technically sound, we can start creating content right away. If not, we fix the foundations first.
  • Amount of content. Writing new content takes the most time. If you write it yourself, you save a significant amount of money.

Can you do search engine optimization yourself for free?

Yes, you can. Search engine optimization is not rocket science.

Anyone can learn the basics of search engine optimization and the most important tools are free.

With these you can already go far:

  • Install the free Google Search Console and see what searches your site currently appears for
  • Write a title for each page that clearly tells what the page is about
  • Create content that answers your customers’ real questions

The price of free optimization is your own time. If your hourly rate is more valuable in client work than fighting with Google, outsource the job.

SEO – Beginner’s Guide (Updated 2026)

Beware of these sales pitches

SEO is sometimes sold with promises that no one can keep

These sales pitches are red flags:

  • “We guarantee the number one spot in Google.” No one can guarantee rankings because Google decides them itself. Period.
  • Long-term contract without reporting. If you don’t see what is being done with your money, you’re probably not getting anything.
  • Foreign cheap packages. Cheap spam links can, in the worst case, even harm your visibility.
  • “We are Google’s official partner.” The Google Partner badge relates to Google Ads advertising, not search engine optimization.

A good SEO consultant will openly tell you what they do, what it costs, and when you can expect results.

When does SEO pay for itself?

Results typically appear in 3-6 months

SEO is a slow game. Google won’t push a site to the top in an instant, even if everything is done correctly.

However, there is one big difference compared to advertising: when the advertising budget runs out, visibility ends in the same second.

A site that has climbed to good rankings, on the other hand, brings visitors month after month without having to pay for each click separately.

So calculate for yourself: how much is one new customer worth to you? In most industries, a few sales cover the entire cost of optimization.

How much does search engine optimization cost then?

Rules of thumb for pricing in Finland:
  • Continuous service: from 500€/month, larger packages several thousands per month
  • Project: from 500€, depending on scope several thousand
  • Hourly work: about 50-200€/h depending on the provider
  • Bonus: 0€, but you usually get what you pay for
  • DIY: 0€ + your own time

My recommendation: start with a project that has a clear price, content and end date.

Then you know what you’re buying and the provider has genuine motivation to do the job properly.
